I mean it's a GREAT way to prep and pamper your body and such but I just find the after treatment would be a hassle where there would be a haggling situation between you and your SPA co-ordinator who speaks bad english everytime [or so..as I have experience] trying to sign you up for their package. pfft!!
Not to sound like a typical "ATAS" Bitch la [eh], but I have my fair share of going to SPA[s] around in Singapore just because my dad is a voucher junkie and he receives numerous spa treats from all the cash in on his credit cards and he always buy cool spa treats for my mom which she doesnt appreciate cos she has a phobia of beauticians putting the cotton on her eyes and she felt like she is a dead corpse...or so [lah] she say. She has this morbid phobia for dead things and so, the voucher goes to me or on other days when Mom is feeling a little bit gung-ho, she will just book an appointment for the both of us.
There was a time when we book an appointment at Pan Pacific Hotel. The name of the spa company I seriously cant remember but hell, they deemed to be a 5 star hotel is definitely off the mark [lah]. So, Mom and I walk into the hotel so excitedly because we bought their special spa package that comes with a typical balinese style room. Lush room. As they promised. So, we entered and we ask the concierge to lead us to the SPA area, a man in his late forties I guessed tries very hard to be uber friendly and make small conversations with us. So, as he escorted us to the SPA site, which is at the swimming pool area..he asked a very HUMILIATING QUESTION.
Which is, "So, are you both here as trainees or new masseuse for the spa company?" And I gave him a sudden death glare that immediately turns his smile into a sudden expression that says his "Balls just got shrunk into tiny pieces the size of a hershey kisses choc!"
And my reply was, "What made you think that?" Just because my mom was wearing a scarf and I'm practically feeling beach-y and wearing sarong for my spa appointment makes you think less of us is it?"
Knowing that, he has said something so wrong, made him apologize profusely which I gave some rude remarks to him and ask him to get lost literally. So, what if me and mom are not wearing our Gucci Bags and Prada shoes and instead wear something comfortable for a spa appointment. And obviously, the so called Tai-tai[s] inside the SPA areas who by the way are mostly wearing luxury handbags paid in installments by their credit cards give us the dubious look too. And my expression was like...what the "uck?
That incident totally ruins the mood for the spa session and I was complaining like a Brat on the phone with Dad on how the hotel treat me. Of course, as usual my dad comes in like a Mafia and demanded to be compensated for my emotional distress that these idiots have put on me. Call me a Brat ah...but if I dont come around kacau your life, that does not mean its a green light for anyone to just take advantage of my situation and make me feel like a cheapo. Especially, if others do it to my mom.
And after the whole hullaballoo of the SPA Wars, I just ask Dad to stop buying for me spa treatments because it created such angst for me. So, from then on he is just letting me splurge on my colourful 10 bucks shoes at bugis like a happy hippie.
And on another note, I have been to facial treatments before that sucks the life out of me when they did the squeezing method on my nose or extraction for that matter. I think maybe the lady has just very long nails. I do not know how is that even allowed and I came back like a bloody rudolph the red nose reindeer in the month of june.
For one thing, I do not have a high level of pain threshold. Even a small chip on my nail means absolute pain for me and I would really cry and ask Beau or Mom to plaster the finger involved. Beau had it worst...he had to kiss my plastered finger as a gesture that Im going to survived my ordeal. Yes, I am spoilt like that and I cant grow up because the people around me loves to treat me like a 5 year-old which undoubtedly makes me happy.
And not to mention, WAXING. That is the whole new level of pain which i have yet to try. And it doesnt, even help that I have my girls saying that it feels like a heart attack or some say its like a quick labour pain. Korang jahat siak!!!! Already I am a wuss on these kind of things and people just need to put on a drama mama which I couldnt guess whether its really true or just plain simple way of loving my constipated expression when they told me.
And so, I have decided to finally do these things prolly one week before our marriage and that would be to CONFIRM CONFIRM go for a SPA TREATMENT and WAXING. Facial fuss, you have to wait. I think I might just do threading on my face and maybe ask my pak andam untuk manderem-manderem[kan] muka jad santek!! hahahhaha...
So, here are some of the SPA[s] that I have considered, basically I will ultimately choose the Spa that will be friendly to my pocket so that aku tak demam terkejut:
#1. Spa Jelita
I have never tried Spa Jelita but I have gal friends who have actually went there for normal javanese massage. And one thing I know, their feedbacks are good because it seems the whole ambience feels relaxed and "atas". Other than that, I am still not sure. But a nice ambience to relax and pamper me like a preppy princess before the big day are some of the must-haves I look out for.
So for their services, they have two types:

Okay... I do not know what Hammam Ritual means. But anything that spells rituals means scary shite for me thanks to Russell Lee books. And by Ganggang, do they mean "Kangkang"? Like as in spread your leds and such??
How like that? I scared..you know! Already the story of how my distant cousin who had just given birth need to kangkang her legs over that incense or kemenyan thing makes me do a speedy gonzalez inspired run!!! And now this?! I thought their package are just scrubbing the dead skin off my body..not spreading my legs segala hokay?!!
Hmmm...need to call and ask. No assumptions should be made la kan. Already my understanding of malay words needs to use a google dictionary so i shall not link it to my understanding yet. But as what my ol' fren Nina used to say, this kind of creepy things can make one's "Bulu ketiak" pon naik sey. Ya ya yaa yaaa..she meant bulu roma but hell [lah]..birds of the same horrendous malay speaking species do flock together. And we just shoot the burger that first came to our mind.
#2 Sri Bayu
Another one, that I came across online which I feel has a very nice ambience to it. It's walking distance from Kovan Mrt station which is a plus point to me. However, in their menu they do not specify that they have any services for Brides. Must call and do research again then. But, they have 400+ likes to their Fb account. It kinda looks promising though...hmmmm.
Up next is Wayan Retreat, secretly my personal favourite because I just loved loved the ambience of the place. It is a 2 story shop house located in the heart of Arab St. And I have been their super fan ever since it started which felt like eons ago. I loved their services. Even the last few months when I book an appointment with them and the receptionist was a pinoy didnt bug me.
Yes, I am very specific. I only want to be attended by our lovely locals. Anything that's foreign pisses me off from previous sales encounters or transactions. Unless foreigners that spells PRADA GUCCI and the likes of Hermes..I dont mind. Bitchy [aye]?!! hahahhah..dont mind me. My PMS is coming.
So, from what I know they do have all this Jamu Baths for BTB[s]. If Im not wrong, it is called Putri Jongras. It scared the SHIT out of me because I asked like a Bimbo to Beau and asked him..why would anyone name their massage package of the Princess Bug-tooth. Later on, as Beau rolled his eyes to the skies for like the thousandth time ever since he met me.
He explained with clarity.
"B, that is JONGOS[Bug-tooth], the wayan retreat one is JONGRAS [lah]!!!" Den I was giving a very long ohhhhhh while sipping my nice cup of ginger tea. Silly ol'me. pfft!!!
And the package starts from $200+ from the menu that I was given. Well, need to start calling and compare the prices.
I have never tried this either but they looked even more promising with 3K Likes on the FB Page. Even Beau's aunty like their page. Must ask her one of these days cos she just have great contacts. Maybe she knows the towkay?!! Selamat pocket ku..boleh haggle for discount right?
So, these are some of the targeted spa[s] I am considering to prep up for my Big day you alls. If you do have any more great recommendations. Dont be shy and just drop me a mail alrightey?!!
Till then,
Loved.
